'The Road' now available on YouTube in a music video adaptation

I've visually adapted one of the poems, The Road, setting it to both music and images. The soundtrack is from R. Carlos Nakai's Canyon Trilogy CD. The results are a 2-minute video slideshow clip which has been uploaded to YouTube. The last shop, Annie's Book Stop, needed the owner to approve a consignment (who wasn't there). Therefore, I may (or not) revisit them later. Emotional Fissures released for retail publication

11/4/2009 Cape Cod, MA - Author John Winchell has self-published his first book, Emotional Fissures, a collection of 26 poems written between 2000 - 2009. This compilation is a inner journey through self-awareness, consciousness, detachment, release and spiritual transformation. The book covers a wide breadth of subject matter including love, mortality, loss and rebirth.

The reasons behind John's decision to publish these poems are both compelling and very personal. In April 2008, he suffered the death of his 27-year-old sister, Elizabeth. Within three months, she passed away, then he lost both his job and apartment. All this forced John to take drastic measures towards self-preservation in the face of challenging circumstances. Emotional Fissures was a direct response while negotiating such a difficult life phase.

John's writing style is based in heavy metaphor and symbolism, with semi-thematic references throughout. The book is available for purchase both digitally and in paperback at lulu.com and Amazon.com. Revisions

Please forgive the belated nature of this post. Received my initial print proof the other day and have been tweaking the manuscript based on some necessary changes I observed while examining it. Font size is being reduced to 11pt, which should make text much more proportional to the page dimensions. Also getting rid of some strange Microsoft Word symbols randomly trailing line breaks in various places.

The finished product is a bit shorter now due to the decreased point size - 58 pages as opposed to 62 before. All these revisions have proven quite time consuming, but that's fine. I'm a nitpicker by nature, so no big deal...

The final version (Rev. 6) will probably be uploaded tonight. Then, I must review the PDF and resubmit for publication one more time.

Cover art came out beautifully in the proof. There's just one small positional tweak I'd like to make on the front image - everything else remains the same:

This website was created to promote the impending release of my first book, Emotional Fissures. It comprises 26 poems written over the course of nine years and organized in a collection format. The subject matter covers topics including mortality, love, loss, fear, detachment and other aspects of the human condition. My style utilizes heavy metaphor and symbolism to paint a cathartic landscape of emotional suffering, spiritual learning and conscious transformation.
